SWTOR Impressions: Thoughts from an old school MMO player 471n63

We have written here before about the thoughts and impressions of veteran MMO gamers when it comes to SWTOR. In fact, we’re long time MMO players ourselves and we love to hear what others have to say as well. We stumbled across this Reddit post, a la SWTOR review, from a self-professed old school MMO player.

What did he have to say about SWTOR? 4g262d

The poster starts with their background in MMO gaming:

“My first MMO was Everquest and this was after it had been out for a while”

And then some info on other games he’s tried/player:

“Since then I have played DDO, STO, and Champions, as well I have tried the trial versions of most other MMO’s out there currently and while some offer a unique experience none have matched the polish and ease of teaching you how to play the game like WOW, until now.”

Ok, so I wouldn’t really consider this poster anywhere near the same “veteran” status as myself and my husband. Individually, we’ve tried hundreds of MMOs. But anyway, the poster still seems to have a fairly decent background in gaming and in MMOs in general.

So what did he have to say about SWTOR beta?

“Now I am the first to it that Bioware didn’t re-invent the wheel here and they hold true to most standards of MMO play but in my opinion they have done to Blizzard what Blizzard did to SOE.”

Ok… tell me more…

“During the weekend I was only able to play a games each can be played differently and I can do it with my friends!”

What do you think?

Lisa has been an avid gamer since she was old enough to hold her first controller and a game writer for more than a decade. A child of the Nintendo generation, she believes they just don’t make games like they used to but sometimes, they make them even better! While consoles will always be her first love, Lisa spends most of her gaming time on the PC these days- on MMOs and first-person shooters in particular.
