Well, it’s finally official. After decades of lightsaber duels, force ghost cameos, and one unforgettable moment with a carton of blue milk, Mark Hamill has confirmed he’s done with Star Wars. That’s right—the man behind Luke Skywalker is hanging up his Jedi robes for good, and he’s not looking back (unless it’s in a documentary narrated by Werner Herzog, maybe). Hamill’s recent comments during a press appearance didn’t leave much room for interpretation. Asked whether he’d ever return to the Star Wars universe, his answer was crystal clear: No plans. No desire. No more Force ghost cameos. If you’re feeling reflective, check out The Impact of Luke Skywalker and Mark Hamill on Our Society Will Never End—a book that dives deep into how a farm boy from Tatooine helped shape pop culture and beyond. 🌠 Mark Hamill and the End of a Jedi Era Let’s rewind for a second. The Black Panther movie broke records right and left as the most popular superhero movie ever. Now Solo: A Star Wars Story is threatening to break some records of its own. It looks like the chances of this stand-alone adventure story being a success are good. This movie covers the story of Han Solo and we meet Chewie and see how he becomes a co-pilot and more. It’s an origins story, hopefully, done right. Tickets for Solo: A Star Wars Story went on sale Thursday night and the first 24 hours of presales have already doubled Marvel’s megahit Black Panther, according to Fandango. It does not beat Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War, which remains the fastest-selling film of the year in these early metrics. This is likely good news for Disney, since the Solo movie has had a bit of a troubled production. They had to deal with replacement directors, extensive reshoots, and some poor public perception. It seems that’s all water…

The new Star Wars comic Star Wars: The Last Jedi – Storms of Crait #1 is set to explore the key planet in Star Wars: the Last Jedi. This special, one-shot comic will be released right after the film on December 27th. It’s going to explore Crait, a mineral planet that looks like it will be a battleground between the Resistance and the First Order. Honestly, it looks really interesting, especially for comic fans. So, what’s it all about and what does it have to do with the film? It will be written by Ben Acker and Ben Blacker (Star Wars: The Resistance) with art by Mike Mayhew (Star Wars, The Star Wars). The basic plot of the comic revolves around Luke and Leia during the Galactic Civil War as they head to Crait in search of finding a new base for the Rebel Alliance. Everyone is excited for Star Wars: Episode 8 and like all of these Star Wars films, things are pretty well under wraps, making it hard for anyone to know what’s happening or what might happen. Disney and Lucasfilm like to keep these really under lock and key. That said, sometimes the rumors turn out to be true and sometimes leaks make it out of production. It’s hard to say whether a reported leak is real, or just a rumor, but since we have time to kill before the film is released, we may as well speculate, right? So the first leak/rumor we have for you is regarding Snoke’s throne. There have been a lot of questions about Snoke – who he is, why he is there, etc. Might we have some answers coming soon? Now Star Wars theorist Mike Zeroh, who claims he has a source, has revealed alleged new information surrounding…

In the early 80s, Warwick Davis made a name for himself and launched his acting career as Wicket, the Ewok in the famous Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. He also returned for a cameo back in 1999 when we saw the franchise return in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. It’s no surprise then, that Star Wars fans would be asking whether or not he’ll be back for the newest trilogy. As fans speculate over the new film and where the story will go, it’s fun to see even the smallest hints of what is to be. That’s why, then, we had to share this news about Davis returning for a role in Episode VIII. Warwick Davis recently appeared in his first interview on Australian television and in most of the interview, he talked about how he felt about The Force Awakens, as someone who had worked on the previous films. His, however, directly asked if he…

There have been a lot of fan theories going around but now that the official release date is out for the next film and moving closer, we’re going to see more and more of this as people get pumped up for the actual film. Not only was it recently announced that Darth Vader will be back in Rogue One, we also got some fun info about the voice actor. James Earl Jones is going to be back. While it’s 19 years after the events of Revenge of the Sith, Vader won’t be the same type of threat that we saw in A New Hope. This live action return will be small, but still welcomed by fans of the iconic villain. This comes after there were various appearances in the animated series Star Wars Rebels. According to executive producer Kathleen Kennedy, as said to Entertainment Weekly: “He will be in the movie sparingly. But at a key, strategic moment, he’s going to loom large.” According to director Gareth Edwards, the Vader that will appear in the standalone film will be more of a mythical threat than an all-powerful leader. “Within the Rebellion, it’s not commonly spoken about,” Edwards says about Vader’s…

In what would have given us another good reason to visit Chicago, we now have news that George Lucas has cancelled the plans to build a Star Wars museum. The Chicago Tribune recently reported that Lucas has halted his Windy City plans to build The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art. It would seem that Lucas has spent the past two years arguing with the city of Chicago over the land the museum was to be built on. The story says that back in 2014, a group called Friends of the Parks filed a lawsuit that sought to stop the museum from being built on the Chicago lakefront. they say that anything build on the lakefront has to specifically benefit the citizens of Chicago since this land belongs to them. The Star Wars museum proposed by Lucas would not, in their opinion, specifically benefit the people of Chicago. It doesn’t make a lot of…

Ever since The Force Awakens made its big debut, fans have been speculating about Supreme Leader Snoke. We know next to nothing about this villain so far and you can bet that has a lot of people creating their own theories about it. Who is Snoke? Of the many theories out there, some are silly, some are crazy, and some just might actually make sense. Of course, none of us know for certain and we’ll likely have to wait for the next film to come out to get answers to this big question. One of these theories is that Snoke is Darth Plagueis. Slashfilm’s Ethan Anderton dispels this myth in this post: For whatever reason, some Star Wars fans seem hellbent on trying Supreme Leader Snoke to a Sith master who was briefly mentioned in Revenge of the Sith. If you’re one of those casual fans who doesn’t this detail, or…

Well, now they’ve done it! We knew it was coming and the newest film, Star Wars: The Force Awakens has now officially made $2 billion in the box office worldwide. This makes it only the third film in history to ever hit that number. The other two movies to make more than $2 billion in the box office were Titanic at $2.19 billion and Avatar at $2.79 billion. This is a huge milestone for the film, but not really a surprising one. On Friday, Disney announced The Force Awakens had made $900 million domestically, becoming the only film in history to hit that number. The Star Wars franchise has been and will likely remain incredibly popular for many generations. So while this is a historic moment for Disney, there’s a good chance the next films will break records too. “This is a historic moment for Star Wars, for Lucasfilm, and for Disney, and all of us here are…

Last night everyone was talking about the American Music Awards (AMAs). I have to it that I don’t really follow them. I know who all the performers are so I recognize them when I see the highlights scroll past my feed on social media but I don’t actually sit down and watch the AMAs. I’m just not that interested. I also don’t care what kind of face Nicki Minaj was making during the JLo performance. What I did find interesting was that there was a Star Wars performance at the AMAs. I can’t say I am surprised, really, with the mainstream popularity soaring due to The Force Awakens. Pentatonix is an American a cappella group consisting of five vocalists originating from Arlington, Texas. They performed a tribute of the original Star Wars theme and we also got to see Harrison Ford himself. As for the performance, they were backed by John…

The new Star Wars: The Force Awakens movie has been predicted that it will be one of the highest grossing films ever, and some experts are suggesting that box-office revenues in excess of the current record, Avatar’s gross of $2.78 billon are within reach. Researchers have now showed us who exactly will be purchasing the tickets. According to cinema marketing data firm Movio Media, the average person to purchase a ticket in advance for Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be a United States 34 year old male. It’s predicted that 70% of ticket owners are men between the ages of 18 and 49. The average advance ticket purchaser is a typical movie theater goer and usually travels in order to see big-budget fantasies like Jurassic World or Avengers: Age of Ultron on opening night, according to Movio Media. Also, these in particular individuals spend 2.6 times more than the…

Jar Jar Binks just might be one of the most hated Star Wars characters ever. Honestly, I’m not sure why. I really didn’t think he was that bad. Unlike many who seem to have been annoyed greatly by the character, I found him a bit charming. (I know, I know… don’t shoot me.) When George Lucas was making Star Wars: The Phantom Menace (1999), he famously said, “Jar Jar’s the key to all this, if we get Jar Jar working. ‘Cause he’s a funnier character than we’ve ever had in the movies.” That really didn’t work out so well for him since Binks ended up becoming one of the most hated movie characters ever. That doesn’t seem to sway Lucas very much, as he still loves Jar Jar At the recent Disney D3 Expo, Lucas explained how he feels about Binks, why he loves the character and how he was inspired by…

With The Force Awakens taking place 30 years after Return of the Jedi, there’s been a lot of speculation about what happened in between them. Was the Empire crippled? Did it maintain its stranglehold on the galaxy? Where are the rebels now? On September 2, we’ll start to get answers to these questions. Shattered Empire, the new four-issue comic book series from Marvel, will focus on the events directly following the Battle of Endor and give us some insight into the state of the galaxy moving into The Force Awakens. In an interview with StarWars.com, author Greg Rucka points out that Empire is vast, and that even the loss of its two most important figureheads won’t sound its death knell. Some ers will leave, but many others will stay and be forced to further defend their territory. He also stated that he used real-world events, like the fall of the Soviet Union and the…

The news is now official that Christopher Miller and Phil Lord are teaming up to direct a standalone Star Wars film that focuses on a young Han Solo. The film has yet to be given a title and it will be written by Lawrence and Jon Kasdan, a father and son team. The older Kasdan was responsible for co-writing the screenplays for Return of the Jedi, The Force Awakens, and The Empire Strikes Back. The new movie is set to release on May 25, 2018 and the story will be about the young days of Han Solo and how he went from a smuggler and thief who Obi-Wan and Luke Skywalker encountered first in Star Wars, Episode IV: A New Hope. “This is the first film we’ve worked on that seems like a good idea to begin with. We promise to take risks, to give the audience a fresh experience,…

Since we first heard about the Star Wars spin-off movies, there’s been a great deal of debate over what they’ll be focused on. We didn’t know if we’d be getting films on Han Solo, Boba Fett, the Death Star (looks like that rumor was right), or some combination of these and others. Now that the Rogue One teaser is out, speculation has already started about the next standalone movie, and a few people have been saying that it’s likely to focus on Boba Fett. This seems like an obvious choice for Disney, as Fett has one of the strongest fan followings in the Star Wars universe—people love him, and a Fett movie would almost certainly be a success. An interesting rumor that’s going around (it surfaced back in 2014 on Latino Review) is that Lawrence Kasdan didn’t like the idea of Boba being a clone, and has proposed a story…

Then go see the new Avengers movie! We’ve seen one trailer for The Force Awakens, and we’ll be seeing a new one soon—in front of Avengers: Age of Ultron. It’s been rumored for a while, and with multiple sources reporting this release for the next trailer, it seems very likely. Age of Ultron comes out on May 1st in North America, but has release dates around the world starting on April 22nd, so you can bet that we’ll see some bootleg cell phone recordings of the trailer hitting YouTube before that. The trailer will also be shown at the Star Wars Celebration convention, which runs from April 16th to 19th. After JJ Abrams’ crackdown on leaks coming off of the set, it seems likely that Lucasfilm could try to stay one step ahead of bootleggers and just put the trailer out on the internet after the convention, before anyone has a chance to put up…
